Six months ago, we introduced you to a new vision for managing observability: New Relic Control. We set out to solve a problem every engineering and operations team knows intimately: the complexity, inefficiency, and high cost of managing observability agents and telemetry data across a sprawling IT estate. The preview of New Relic Control was our first step. The response has been incredible, and today, we're thrilled to announce the General Availability of Fleet Control and Agent Control.
The core challenge remains the same. Platform engineering and application development teams struggle with the immense complexity, operational overhead, and risk of manually managing observability agents and telemetry pipelines at scale. This lack of centralized control and automation creates compliance gaps, costly blind spots, and system unreliability, forcing them to spend more time managing their tools than using them to solve problems. This lack of centralized control creates costly blind spots, security risks, and compliance gaps, forcing you to spend more time managing your instrumentation tools than using them to solve problems.
With the GA of Fleet Control and Agent Control, alongside the already available Pipeline Control capability, New Relic Control is now the definitive solution to these challenges.
Centralize and automate the entire observability lifecycle
Since the preview, we've hardened the platform, expanded our support, and are pleased to announce that Agent Control now supports host-based environments (preview) in addition to Kubernetes clusters, allowing you to manage instrumentation across even more of your infrastructure from a single pane of glass. By providing a single control plane for all agents, it allows you to apply consistent settings to entire fleets instantly and streamline deployments with automated rollouts of configuration changes or agent upgrades. This ensures consistent coverage and governance across your entire estate, eliminating the security risks, compliance headaches, and blind spots caused by manual agent management.
A Unified Control Plane, A Differentiated Approach
New Relic Control provides a unified control plane built directly into the platform for your entire observability fleet.New Relic Control provides a unified control plane built directly into the platform for your entire observability fleet. This eliminates the need for tool stitching and provides a seamless, out-of-the-box solution to manage your observability estate from a single comprehensive interface.
- Fleet Control: Automate agent management at scale with centralized configurations and streamlined deployments using deployment rings for safe, progressive rollouts with RBAC permissions and a detailed audit trail at every step.
- Agent Control: Our lightweight, extensible supervisor is now more robust than ever, remotely managing instrumentation on Kubernetes clusters and now hosts, monitoring agent health, and ensuring your configurations are always up-to-date and compliant.
- Pipeline Control: Already generally available, Pipeline Control provides a powerful rules engine and rich visualizations for optimizing telemetry data in flight before it reaches New Relic, reducing noise and lowering costs.

Getting Started with New Relic Control
Getting started is straightforward. If you were part of the public preview, your existing setup will seamlessly transition to GA.
For new users:
- Navigate to All Capabilities -> New Relic Control in your New Relic account.
- Define your agent settings under Configurations in Fleet Control.
- Create a Fleet and deploy your desired agent configurations to it.
- Install Agent Control on your Kubernetes clusters or hosts, assigning them to the fleets you've defined.
- Use the Fleet Control interface to confirm your infrastructure is correctly assigned and configurations are deployed successfully.
For detailed permissions and prerequisites, please refer to our updated New Relic Control documentation.
The Future of Observability Management
The general availability of Fleet Control and Agent Control marks a major milestone, but we're just getting started. We are committed to expanding the capabilities of New Relic Control to provide even greater value, deeper automation, and unparalleled simplicity in managing observability at enterprise scale. Thank you to our preview customers for your invaluable feedback. We can't wait to see how you'll unleash the full power of New Relic Control to master your observability estate.
