New Relic Delivers Industry’s First On-Demand Service for Managing the Performance of Microsoft .NET and PHP Web Applications

Operations and development teams now have a single tool to monitor, troubleshoot and tune .NET, PHP, Java and Ruby web apps deployed in the cloud or in the datacenter

San Francisco - October 14, 2010

New Relic, Inc., the leading software-as-a-service provider of application performance management (APM) solutions, today announced that it has expanded its on-demand service for managing live production web applications to include those built with Microsoft .NET and PHP. Support for these languages in addition New Relic’s existing support for Java, JRuby and Ruby, makes New Relic RPM the first on-demand, SaaS web application management platform for multiple languages and deployment platforms, enabling operations and development teams to use a single tool for monitoring, troubleshooting business-critical web applications in the cloud and in the datacenter.

“As more and more organizations deploy business-critical services in the cloud, they are looking for proven solutions that can give them insight and control over application performance regardless of the development language or deployment platform,” said Michael Crandell, CEO of RightScale, a leading cloud computing management provider whose cloud management platform enables organizations to easily deploy and manage business critical applications across multiple clouds. “With New Relic’s support for all the major development languages and its existing integration with RightScale, our combined solutions create a robust set of capabilities for deploying and maintaining applications that successfully meet business and performance goals.”

New Relic RPM is the leading on-demand application performance management service for web applications deployed in virtual, physical or hybrid computing environments. It provides operations and development teams with deep visibility into their live production systems and code-level diagnostics so that they can rapidly identify and eliminate potential performance issues. More than 5,500 customers use the service to manage more than 100,000 application instances worldwide. New Relic has partnered with leading cloud platform and infrastructure partners such as Microsoft Windows Azure Platform to provide application visibility to organizations migrating their business-critical systems to the cloud. Additionally, New Relic is a charter member of the Microsoft Windows Azure Platform partner program, which provides valuable resources for .NET developers.

“Microsoft is committed to helping organizations take advantage of the interoperability benefits of our cloud computing platform and working with vendors like New Relic is an effective way to help customers be successful in mixed IT environments,” said Jean Paoli, general manager of Interoperability Strategy at Microsoft.

“As we continue to witness a monumental shift in development and deployment models for business-computing services, New Relic’s goal is the same as it has always been—to provide organizations with tools to ensure their mission-critical applications are meeting both performance goals and 24x7 end-user demands for superior service delivery,” said Lew Cirne, New Relic founder and CEO, and the father of modern-day web application management. “By providing a single solution that works seamlessly in physical and virtual environments and supports multiple deployment platforms and languages, the addition of .NET and PHP monitoring effectively doubles the number of organizations that we can serve and will fundamentally alter the way that organizations will manage both their traditional and cloud-based online systems.”

New Relic RPM for .NET applications is generally available today. Information about RPM including videos about key features, pricing options, signup, and links to expert content is available here.
