The core challenges impacting developer productivity and experience are clear. In the 2025 Stack Overflow Developer Survey, nearly half (45%) of developers spend more time debugging AI-generated code than writing it. This, coupled with constant context-switching and manual troubleshooting, leads to significant time loss. New Relic's unified Intelligent Observability Platform addresses these issues by integrating disparate systems and performance data, providing crucial context, and driving actionable insights.
Agentic AI is everywhere, but developers aren't yet seeing the productivity results they expected. To unlock AI's full potential, development teams need intelligent observability in the tools they use everyday. New Relic is working closely with GitHub to deliver on its vision of bringing a true open system of intelligence across the tech ecosystem.
This builds on our May announcement of the New Relic integration for GitHub Copilot, where we first brought intelligent observability insights into developer's workflows. Today, we're expanding that integration with even more agentic capabilities.
This expanded partnership is why, at GitHub Universe 2025, we're excited to announce three new integrations with GitHub, designed to boost developer productivity and experience. These innovations, highlighted by a new AI integration for automated vulnerability remediation, bring intelligent observability insights directly into the developer workflow. As a result, you and your development teams can accelerate development, reduce downtime, and simplify workflows through automation.
Automated security remediation with GitHub Copilot
Application security is often a tangled web of siloed data, overwhelming vulnerability tickets, and endless context switching. The New Relic Security RX integration for GitHub Copilot now automatically correlates software vulnerabilities across GitHub and New Relic, then implements fixes within GitHub Copilot, all with runtime context. This integration helps distinguish real-world exposures from noise, eliminating manual research and prioritizing issues live in production. This agentic integration creates a clear remediation plan, automatically initiating a Github issue containing impact details, testing and verification steps, and acceptance criteria. Copilot then generates a pull request (PR) with all necessary context, bridging build-time and runtime insights for faster resolution and a clearer security posture.
Removing observability instrumentation blind spots at deployment
Developers frequently deploy services without adequate observability instrumentation, creating blind spots that only surface in production. New Relic's new agentic integration for observability instrumentation enhances GitHub Copilot, making it a more holistic solution-builder. This solution automatically detects and resolves missing instrumentation at deployment by utilizing GitHub Copilot to implement full coverage directly in pull requests (PR). Instead of just a functional code snippet, users receive a fully-realized service, complete with application performance monitoring (APM), custom attributes for business logic, a GitHub Action for Change Tracking integration with New Relic, and even the browser agent for front-end visibility.
Importing key data for better service ownership and best practices adoption
The integration between New Relic Service Architecture Intelligence and GitHub streamlines the import of key data on Teams, Catalogs, and Scorecards. Users can now directly import essential data on teams, team members, repos, owners, and pull request (PR) metadata from GitHub accounts into New Relic. This significantly reduces configuration setup time for Teams, Scorecards, Catalogs, and other New Relic platform innovations, accelerating service ownership and the adoption of best practices.
