Our Barcelona team spent the day tracking local wildlife and cataloging biodiversity in partnership with iNaturalist for Global Day of Service.

With a globally distributed team spanning regional hubs and varied workspaces, summer looks completely different depending on where you log on.

In Portland, an engineer steps out into the morning sun with an iced coffee. Over in Melbourne, a teammate logs on wearing a heavy knit sweater during their mid-year winter. Somewhere in between, colleagues are already debating pumpkin spice season.

Across every region and climate, the past few months brought genuine energy and shared purpose. From packed developer events in Atlanta to community volunteer projects across the globe, here is how our team spent the season, along with the leaders driving each initiative.

Where Culture and Community Take Center Stage

At New Relic, culture isn’t a slogan etched on an office wall. It is built every day by team members who step up to create spaces where others can connect, give back, and grow.

Connecting in Atlanta: RenderATL

RenderATL has rapidly grown into one of the tech ecosystem's most vibrant gatherings, and our crew brought incredible energy to this year's event. Guided by our Developer Relations team in close partnership with Field Marketing, Sales, and Talent Acquisition, we didn’t just set up a booth—we immersed ourselves in the community:

  • Hosted dynamic technical sessions diving into modern observability.
  • Spent hours talking shop with engineers, students and long-time customers. and engineers.
  • Gave prospective candidates an inside look at life at New Relic.

Side by side with the conference, we also hosted our own customer event, Runtime. Runtime was New Relic’s premier two-day gathering built specifically to elevate builders, reliability specialists, and system architects into their next era of productivity—a high-impact hub where technical practitioners gained the tools and confidence to deploy artificial intelligence applications safely and at scale.

Closing out the event, Tracy Williams, Chief People & Culture Officer, made a powerful case in her closing talk that psychological safety, visibility, and culture are foundational engineering infrastructure—especially in the AI era. She highlighted how true observability restores confidence, eliminates imposter syndrome, and builds a sustainable, human-centric environment where teams can do their best work.

Bringing the energy to RenderATL! The New Relic team gathering together before kicking off Day 1 of the conference.

Local Impact on a Global Scale: Day of Service

Our annual Global Day of Service is dedicated to grassroots community impact. This August, Relics stepped away from everyday work to partner with community non-profits across the world.

While teams spearheaded dozens of local initiatives, Relics showed up in diverse ways tailored to their local communities:

  • Barcelona, Spain: Teaming up with local conservationists on a BioBlitz project to catalog regional urban biodiversity via iNaturalist.
  • Hyderabad, India: Organizing community blood donation drives to support regional healthcare clinics.
  • Dublin, Ireland: Assembling fresh meal kits and care packages for resident families at the Ronald McDonald House.
  • Portland, Oregon: Packing hundreds of backpacks filled with essential school supplies for local school districts ahead of the academic year.

Global Day of Service isn’t just about stepping away from our screens for a day; it’s about showing up as One Team to support the communities where we live and work. When Relics take action locally, that shared sense of purpose doesn't stay in the field; it builds real empathy, strengthens our cross-functional connections, and powers how we grow together back at New Relic.

That same commitment to empowering people externally shapes how we invest in our own team's growth behind the scenes.

Investing from Within: Lean In Circles

  • Led by: Tyrone Dobson, Senior Employee Experience & Community Manager

An organization only thrives when everyone feels empowered to lead. This season marked the kickoff of our newest Lean In Circles cohort, spearheaded by Tyrone Dobson.

Lean In Circles are small peer-led mentorship groups designed to give Relics a confidential, supportive sounding board each month. Inside these spaces, team members share lived experiences, exchange candid advice, and navigate personal and professional goals together. As this year’s cohort gets underway, we are looking forward to the authentic relationships and internal leadership pathways being fostered.

Continuous Learning: Grow Your Career Month

We believe the most rewarding career moves should happen right here. This summer marked our 7th annual Grow Your Career Month, a dedicated company-wide initiative centered on career mobility and internal development.

Throughout the month, Relics had access to:

  • Interactive skill-building workshops focused on high-demand capabilities.,
  • Executive fireside chats exploring non-linear career journeys
  • Practical career-planning sessions designed to help individual contributors transition into management or help engineers explore lateral moves into fields like product management or technical design.

Join the Momentum

As the summer wraps up, a change in seasons brings fresh perspective, new challenges, and another chapter of building together.
