Inefficient queries can significantly increase your compute usage and, in turn, drive up your platform costs. Without a streamlined, data-driven way to identify these inefficiencies, the process of optimizing your spend can become a manual, time-consuming exercise.
Today, we’re announcing the launch of Compute Optimizer, a new tool in New Relic that helps you optimize your usage and costs.
Compute Optimizer provides intelligent recommendations for reducing your compute usage, helping you with cost savings and performance while maintaining effective system observability. It gives you data-driven insights to identify and fix inefficient queries, especially around compute-intensive products like Alerts, to help your organization stay within budget and implement compute best practices.
Get intelligent optimization recommendations
A key challenge for engineers and billing administrators is not knowing which specific queries are inefficient or how to fix them. To solve this, Compute Optimizer automatically identifies expensive and inefficient queries in your account based on established best practices.
For each identified query, the tool provides:
- A clear recommendation for how to optimize it.
- The estimated CCU savings potential for implementing the change.
- An aggregate view of the total CCU savings you could achieve across all recommendations.
This takes the guesswork out of optimization and gives you a clear, actionable path to reducing your compute spend.
Getting started with Compute Optimizer is simple.
- Log in to the New Relic platform.
- Navigate to the Compute Management UI from the user menu.
- Click on the new Compute Optimizer tab.
- Once you're in, you will see the intelligent optimizer recommendations in an interactive table, where you can review your potential savings.
- You can learn more about Compute Organizer at this link
