New Relic Donates $55,000 to Movember and Susan G. Komen for the Cure

During November, company rallies behind the cause by growing mustaches and raising funds for the treatment and prevention of men’s and women’s health issues

San Francisco - 4 décembre 2012

New Relic, Inc., the SaaS-based cloud application performance management provider, today announced that it has donated $55,000 for charitable organizations Movember and Susan G. Komen for the Cure. The funds will be used for the research, treatment and cure of men's and women's health issues. During the past month, New Relic supported Movember’s annual campaign, which encourages men to raise awareness of the fight against prostate and testicular cancer, by growing mustaches and helping to raise funds. New Relic pledged a donation of $10 on behalf of every new customer who signed up for a new account during the month of November.

Each year during the month of November, more than one million men around the world begin the month clean shaven, and then spend the next 30 days growing mustaches to signal their support for men's and women's health issues. Last year, Movember raised $124 million in three months in which the Movember web site attracted 100 million page views with 15,000 concurrent users. Given Movember's spiking participation numbers year-over-year within a limited fund-raising timeframe, website performance was of utmost importance to the Movember IT team. To ensure their website was running at peak performance in spite of heavy traffic, Movember partnered with New Relic for real-time visibility.

New Relic's SaaS-based APM tools provide Movember with the visibility needed to react quickly to any disruption in web performance. With an anticipated 160 million page views for this year's fundraising period, web performance was more important than ever for the 10 year-old charity. In preparation for this year's site visitors, Movember relied on New Relic during its testing phase to see how the site responds under simulated load, enabling the charity to be proactive and diagnose any potential issues before they happen.

"If people are having trouble registering or donating, they may leave and not come back later," says David Smith, Movember CTO. "New Relic helps keep Movember.com running at full steam all month long. More uptime means more registrations and donations. More donations mean that we can fund more research and men's health initiatives. And that’s truly a win-win."
