Scope

This Cookie Policy (“Policy”) explains how New Relic, Inc. and its subsidiaries (“New Relic”), use cookies and other similar technologies on our website, http://www.newrelic.com, and any related New Relic website (together the “Site”). This Policy does not apply to cookies that may be part of New Relic’s product offerings placed on our customers’ websites, for which our customers are the data controller. For more information on those cookies, please see the applicable documentation. This Policy does not apply to the privacy practices of third party websites which may be linked to this Site. This Policy was last updated in August 2024.

Consent

When you visit our Site, you will be given the option to choose whether or not you agree to the use of cookies and other similar technologies for the purposes we describe in this Policy.

Cookies

Cookies are small text files which are downloaded to your browser when you visit a website; for example to remember information about you, such as your language settings or login information. Most web pages contain elements from multiple web domains so when you visit our Site your browser may receive cookies from several sources. This includes first-party cookies which are set by us, and third parties cookies that are set by third parties that we have hired to provide services on our behalf, such as site analytics or ad targeting.

Session cookies are deleted automatically when you close your browser and persistent cookies remain on your device after the browser is closed (for example to remember your user preferences when you return to the Site).

What types of cookies do we use?

As described in our General Data Privacy Notice we use cookies and other technologies such as web beacons, alone or in conjunction with cookies, to ensure visitors to our Site have the best possible experience and to provide targeted advertising. We use both session-based and persistent cookies. Session cookies are stored temporarily on the memory of your devices while you are visiting the Site and are erased once you close your browser. Persistent cookies are stored for a predetermined amount of time, which varies from cookie to cookie. They aid us to understand whether you have previously visited our Site in the past. New Relic sets and accesses our own first party cookies on the Site and we use third party cookies which are set by our technology partners such as Google Analytics. This allows us to track the number of visitors to our Site.

For more information on the categories of cookies and other technologies that we use, please see below:

Essential

These cookies and other technologies are necessary for our Site to function and cannot be switched off in our system because they are essential to enabling your use of our Site. Without these cookies, services we would provide (such as permitting log-in into the service) cannot be provided. These cookies may be associated with personal data.

Personalization

These cookies and other technologies improve your experience by enabling personalization (like remembering language and region), as well as enabling certain features like tracking progress on our videos and chat support. They can also help you fill out forms on our sites more easily and they also provide you with features, insights and customized content. These cookies may be associated with personal data.

Analytics

These cookies and other technologies help us learn how well our Site is performing and how visitors interact with the site and whether there may be technical issues. We use these cookies to understand, improve, and research our Site and they may be set by us or by our third party technology partners. These cookies may be associated with personal data.

Targeted Advertising

These cookies and other technologies collect information about the browsing habits associated with your device and are used to make advertising more relevant to you and your interests. Third parties provide these services in return for recognising that you (or more accurately your device) have visited a certain Site. They may also be used to limit the number of times you see an advertisement or measure the effectiveness of advertising campaigns. These third parties place advertising cookies both when you visit our Site and when you use their services and navigate away from our Site. These cookies may be associated with personal data.

Local Shared Objects (“Flash cookies”)

Local Shared Objects (aka “Flash cookies”) and local storage in HTML5 may also be used on our Site to enhance your experience by, for example, storing your user preferences and settings like volume/mute settings. Local Shared Objects are data files similar to browser cookies, but can store more complex data than simple text. You can manage local shared objects by following the instructions on Adobe’s help site here.

HTML email web beacons

Our emails may contain a single, campaign-unique “web beacon pixel” to tell us whether our emails are opened and verify any clicks through to links within the email. We may use this information for purposes including determining which of our emails are more interesting to you, to query whether users who do not open our emails wish to continue receiving them. The pixel will be deleted when you delete the email. If you do not wish the pixel to be downloaded to your device, you should select to receive emails from us in plain text rather than HTML.

Your Cookie Preferences

You may update your cookie preferences by clicking on the ‘Your Privacy Choices’ link or cookie banner (if applicable) that appears on the site. If you do not agree to the use of these cookies please disable them by selecting ‘Reject All’. If you choose to reject cookies now, you may update your preferences in the future by following the instructions above. Please note that the site may not function well if cookies are disabled. It may also stop you from saving customized settings, like login information.

For cookies that track activity in connection with targeting advertising, you can opt-out of third party targeting cookies on the Digital Advertising Alliance’s consumer choice page ( http://optout.aboutads.info) or the Network Advertising Initiative’s consumer choice page (http://optout.networkadvertising.org) or the European Interactive Digital Advertising Alliance consumer choice page ( http://youronlinechoices.eu).

Other tools offered by third parties can help you see and manage the types of cookies and trackers that you encounter. More information about cookies and cookie management can be found on www.allaboutcookies.org and www.aboutcookies.org.

Browser manufacturers also provide help pages relating to cookie management in their products.

For other browsers, please consult the documentation that your browser manufacturer provides.

After your initial visit to the Site we may change the cookies and other technologies we use.

Use of IP addresses and web logs

We may also use your IP address and browser type to help diagnose problems with our server, to administer our Site and to improve the service we offer to you. An IP address is a numeric code that identifies your computer on the internet. Your IP address might also be used to gather broad demographic information.

Do Not Track

Some internet browsers offer a “do not track” or “DNT” option that relies on technology known as a DNT header, which sends a signal to the websites visited by the user about the user’s browsers DNT preference setting. New Relic does not currently commit to responding to browser’s DNT preference across its Site , because no common industry standard for DNT has been adopted by industry groups, technology companies or regulators, including no consistent standard of interpreting user intent. New Relic takes privacy and choices regarding privacy seriously and will make efforts to continue to monitor the development around DNT browser technology and the implementation of a standard for DNT.

Global Privacy Control

Global Privacy Control is a browser setting that allows you to notify websites you visit about your privacy preferences. New Relic honors website visitors’ Global Privacy Control signals.
