New Relic Delivers Industry’s First On-Demand Application Management Tool for PHP Web Apps in the Cloud or Datacenter
Organizations developing and deploying services across multiple languages and platforms can now use a single tool for monitoring, troubleshooting and tuning their business-critical PHP, Ruby, Java, and .NET web apps
New Relic, Inc., the leading software-as-a-service provider of application performance management (APM) solutions, today announced the general availability of RPM for PHP, the first application management tool to deliver 24x7 monitoring and in-depth diagnostics for PHP-based web applications, including leading PHP applications and frameworks such as Drupal, Wordpress, and Zend. Now, with a single tool, development and devops teams can use RPM to ensure the performance of web applications built with PHP as well as Ruby, JRuby, Java and .NET.
“As more and more organizations choose Drupal to manage their dynamic web applications, gaining visibility into PHP application performance in production is critical,” said Dries Buytaert, Acquia CTO and co-founder and creator and project lead for the Drupal open source project. “New Relic RPM enables site admins to see inside their Drupal instance while in production, at the transaction level, to spot and fix potential issues before they lead to site performance problems.”
“More than 42 million gamers rely on IGN.com for connecting with friends, interactive gameplay, and up-to-date information on the latest video games. For our audience it’s critical that we have the right tools in place to ensure world-class application responsiveness” said Tony Ford, director of engineering at IGN, the leading Internet media and services provider focused on the video game and entertainment enthusiast markets. “New Relic RPM is a key part of our infrastructure because it gives us unparalleled insight into the health and performance of our applications across multiple development languages and platforms in a consistent, easy to use console.”
New Relic RPM is an on-demand web application performance management solution that offers 24x7 visibility and code-level diagnostics for web applications deployed on traditional dedicated infrastructures, or in private and public clouds. RPM for PHP monitors overall application response time and throughput including memcache, database and external services. It provides deep visibility into individual web transactions and database calls to MySQL, PostgresSQL, and any PDO-supported database all the way down to SQL statements. This enables application teams to better ensure superior service for PHP applications and frameworks such as Drupal, Wordpress, Zend as well as their proprietary web apps.
“IGN and Acquia are two remarkable examples of just how far PHP has come and how important it is to many of today’s leading companies,” said Lew Cirne, New Relic’s CEO and founder, and the father of modern day web application performance management. “I am extremely pleased to be adding PHP to the list of languages that RPM supports including Ruby, JRuby, Java and .NET. Our vision is to become the only tool that organizations need to manage their online services and this brings us a step closer to that goal.”
New Relic RPM is available today for PHP, Ruby, JRuby, Java and .NET application monitoring.
