New Relic Quadruples Customer Base and Grows Revenue Threefold in 2009
Strong results reflect company’s ability to satisfy market’s need for simple, powerful, cost-effective application management in both cloud and physical computing environments
New Relic, Inc., the leading software-as-a-service provider of application performance management solutions, today announced that in 2009 the company quadrupled its customer base and grew revenue more than 200% year over year. This remarkable growth was made possible by significant customer wins, key partnerships, and the delivery of several robust product releases.
"2009 was an outstanding year for us and I am very proud of the New Relic team," said Lew Cirne, New Relic CEO. "Perhaps our most significant achievement was the value that we were able to deliver to the Ruby and Java communities as they deployed their web applications in physical, cloud and hybrid environments. Clearly, organizations large and small are searching for easy-to-install, cost-effective, cloud-ready alternatives to traditional web application management tools. New Relic is meeting that need. We’re very excited about the year ahead and look forward to sharing new innovations designed to make it even easier for organizations to meet stringent goals for application performance and customer satisfaction."
"AT&T Interactive, a subsidiary of AT&T Inc, is an industry leader in creating local search products and services that empower consumers to find and connect with businesses across the devices and interactive platforms they use most," said Coby Randquist, Executive Director Web Development at AT&T Interactive. "As more and more people take advantage of the web-based services offered by AT&T interactive, it’s important that we have the tools in place to monitor application health on a real-time basis, identify the source of any performance problems, and optimize online performance over time."
To date, New Relic RPM monitors over 35,000 Java, Ruby and JRuby application instances for more than 3,200 customers worldwide. Significant customer additions in 2009 included American Express Publishing, AT&T Interactive, Getty Images, Gilt Groupe, Intuit, Juniper Networks, and LinkedIn. These organizations are representative of the thousands of companies that have deployed mission-critical web applications in physical datacenters and cloud-based environments and are using RPM to monitor application health 24x7, rapidly diagnose issues as they arise, and optimize application performance over time.
In 2009 New Relic grew its partnership programs substantially and formed alliances with key cloud infrastructure and platform vendors. These included Amazon Web Services, Blue Box Group, Engine Yard, GoGrid, GigaSpaces, Heroku, Red Hat, RightScale, Stax Networks, Sun Microsystems and VMWare. More than 1,200 of New Relic’s customers are deployed in either private or public cloud environments.
Additionally, in 2009 New Relic delivered several releases of RPM, offering key features such as:
- Deployment management, integration with Twitter, Lighthouse and of the Apdex standard.
- RPM for Java, with the architectural work in place to support any other web application language/platform in the future.
- A complete redesign of RPM’s user interface with dramatic improvements in speed and usability.
- The industry’s first on-demand, hourly billing option.
