This is the India edition of the Observability Forecast 2026, New Relic’s annual research report produced in partnership with Enterprise Technology Research (ETR). It draws on 488 IT and engineering leaders and practitioners surveyed in India, the largest single-country sample in this year’s global study, and compares this year’s results with last year’s India data wherever the survey allows. The result is a market that leads the world on several measures of AI readiness while reporting some of its most severe operational strain.
Key findings
India has closed the AI agent blind spot that troubles the rest of the world
56% of Indian organisations actively monitor their AI agents in production, against 35% globally, and just 17% have deployed agents with no monitoring in place.
That speed is showing up in outages
31% of Indian organisations experience a high-impact outage multiple times a day, against 9% globally, and a median 50% of engineering time now goes to addressing disruptions.
Returns are moving up, not just holding steady
The share of Indian organisations reporting a 3 to 5x return on observability spend rose from 19% to 35% in a year.
