From Monitoring to Action: Powering Agentic AI and 2-3x ROI in Media & Entertainment.
Sunday, April 19, 2026 @2:30 pm
Session ID: NRC1
AWS Theater, West Hall
In this session, we will address how the streaming landscape has shifted from a "growth at all costs" model to one defined by operational efficiency and the relentless pursuit of viewer retention. Progress continues at a frantic pace, with beyond-human scale. For modern media organizations, the cost of technical failure has never been higher: according to the 2025 New Relic Observability Forecast, a high-impact outage now costs nearly half of all media companies over $2 million per hour. In this session, we move beyond the "why" of observability and dive deep into the "how" of driving a 2-3x return on investment by unifying visibility of the entire delivery pipeline to eliminate the finger-pointing between teams.
We will explore how New Relic is helping industry leaders escape the "fragmentation minefield"—the common trap of juggling eight or more disconnected tools—by creating a single source of truth that links client side QoE data directly to streaming applications, CDN, backend infrastructure health and ad-tech performance. You will see how the transition from legacy monitoring to Agentic AI is revolutionizing incident response, moving from manual war-room troubleshooting to autonomous, predictive remediation that resolves issues before they impact "Golden Metrics" like Startup Time, Buffering, and Ad Fill Rates.
Event speakers
Stephen Shaw
Senior Solutions Architect
Stephen's passion for observability ignited over 19 years ago as a Video Engineer when he and his fellow teammates were forced to fly blind in a whirlwind of complex video networks. Rumours, hearsay and internal finger pointing battles made chasing his own tail and being held accountable for some very difficult business challenges an exhausting endeavour. After digging in with some kind vendors in the video monitoring space, he was shown the way. "Data from the right places at the right time, presented in the right way, opened our eyes and blew the lid off of skeletons in the closet that we didn't know were there." Lights, camera, action. We were now masters of our domain instead of being dragged through mayhem. As an evangelist for data, Stephen was able to spread his passion further as a Solution Architect and Product Consultant, helping clients worldwide to get visibility into critical areas of their networks. As it often goes with data nerds, he wanted more. Now with New Relic, one of the world's finest experts in Full Stack Observability, he is working closely with media customers to further enhance an Intelligent and powerful end-to-end platform in the M&E space.
