SQLGrease SQL Server Performance Monitoring

Published and supported by SQLGrease LLC

The SQLGrease New Relic Plugin is a Free plugin which provides visibility to data collected by SQLGrease. The plugin is free for both Pay and Free versions of SQLGrease.

SQLGrease collects performance data internal to SQL Server to show what waits (locks, cpu, IO wait, parallel processes, memory wait, transaction log wait, network wait, and buffer wait) are impacting query performance. These stats are collected at the query level, not at the system level. Because waits are collected at the query level they provide a real view of what factors are impacting query performance. SQLGrease also collects query level statistics such as logical IO, physical IO, rows, execution counts. The SQLGrease plugin for New Relic exposes this information via dashboards and summary statistics.

In addition to query level performance data, SQLGrease can be configured to raise events. Events are user configurable, but out of the box some are preconfigured. Examples of events are query timeouts, long query executions, long lock waits, database connectivity, etc. The SQLGrease plugin exposes event information via a dashboard.

SQLGrease has a powerful deadlock collection feature. This feature groups similar deadlocks together via a signature (deadlock hash). The SQLGrease plugin exposes this information via a dashboard.

SQL Server 2008 and later.

The SQLGrease New Relic Plugin requires no software installation. Simply enter your New Relic license ID and SQLGrease will start sending performance data to New Relic.

The SQLGrease SQL Server Performance Monitoring plugin extends the power of New Relic's monitoring capabilities.
