New Relic Plugin for RabbitMQ Clusters

This plugin reports metrics about the RabbitMQ cluster being monitored.

Metrics

Overview

  1. Cluster Status - Reports Health (1), Warning (2), and Critical (3) based on the state of the cluster.
  2. Number of connections to the cluster.
  3. Number of network partitions seen.

Nodes

  1. Number of Nodes
  2. Number of Failed Nodes
  3. Memory Used (percentage)
  4. Disk Free
  5. File Descriptions Used (percentage)
  6. Sockets Used (percentage)
  7. Memory Alarm (True/False)
  8. Disk Free Alarm (True/False)

Queues

  1. Total number of queues
  2. Queue Names
  3. Delivery Get Details (messages/second)
  4. Publish Details (messages/second)
  5. Number of Messages (count)
  6. Number of Down Queues (count)

Requirements

  1. .Net 4.5
  2. RabbitMQ must have the management plugin installed, and be configured with rate_mode: detailed, as documented here https://www.rabbitmq.com/management.html

Configuration / Installation

  1. Download release and unzip on machine to handle monitoring.
  2. Edit Config Files rename newrelic.template.json to newrelic.json Rename plugin.template.json to plugin.json Update settings in both config files for your environment
  3. Run plugin.exe from Command line

Use NPI to install the plugin to register as a service

  1. Run Command as admin: npi install org.healthwise.newrelic.rabbitmq
  2. Follow on screen prompts
