New Relic Inc.,the SaaS web application performance management provider, announced today that Heroku, a leading open Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS) provider and a salesforce.com company, has selected New Relic as its application performance management (APM) tool of choice for monitoring web applications deployed on its new Java platform. New Relic Standard edition for Java will be available free of charge to Heroku’s Java customers through the add-on catalog just as it is available today for customers deploying business-critical Ruby web apps on Heroku’s robust, proven platform.

Earlier today, Heroku announced a solution for deploying Java applications to the cloud, making it a premier platform as a service for both Java and Ruby developers around the world. New Relic offers 24x7 real user and application monitoring and the industry’s first Java profiler for live web apps. It also delivers code-level diagnostics for proactive identification and troubleshooting of web application performance bottlenecks. With New Relic Standard edition available free of charge, Heroku customers deploying business-critical Java applications can monitor, troubleshoot and tune their apps, and deliver optimal application performance.

"As more and more organizations look to Heroku for help with enabling their cloud strategies, it’s important that we provide additional language support for and continue partnering with leading companies like New Relic to help our customers be successful," said Name, Title at Heroku. "With New Relic available to our Ruby and Java customers through the add-on catalog, it’s now easier than ever before for app teams to ensure their cloud-based apps are meeting and exceeding business goals and end-user expectations."

"New Relic and Heroku have worked closely together to deliver the tools, resources, and skills organizations needed to rapidly and successfully deploy business-critical apps in the cloud," said Lew Cirne, New Relic founder and CEO. "The addition of New Relic’s app production profiling and monitoring capabilities to Heroku’s new platform demonstrates very clearly our continued joint commitment to providing Java developers with the same scalability, simplicity, and reliability that Ruby programmers have enjoyed over the last two years."
